* The David Lindenbaum Scholarship is for need based USYers. The scholarship is available three times during the year (Regional, International and Encampment). There are limited funds available. The fund is only replenished by allocations through chapter Tikun Olam donations, which is why it is important for each chapter to send in there Tikun Olam money so we are able to make the funds available to USYers. In order to be considered, completed applications by USYer and family and YD must be in by the Convention application deadline.
Application must be accompanied with at least the cost of the convention sent in. If you have any questions about this scholarship, please feel free to contact the regional office at (561) 372-0420.
Youth Groups
Pre-Kadima / Chalutzim
The children in Kindergarten through 5th grade meet once a month on a Sunday.
Pre-Kadima / Chalutzim is another way we can get our Religious School students involved in synagogue programming and a place for them to spend time with their friends. We do many fun things such as crafts, cooking, sports, etc. All programs run during the school year only.
Kadima
Kadima is our middle school age group affiliate of the United SynagogueYouth organization, as well as The United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. Kadima is Hebrew for "forward." Our Kadima program is for children in grades 6 though 8 and meets every Tuesday night from 6:45 PM to 8:00 PM. Kadima is designed to incorporate creative and fun programming in an environment that will allow the youth to eventually become involved in our USY programs when they enter High School.
USY
USY (United Synagogue Youth) is for young adults in grades 9 though 12 and meets weekly on Wednesday nights from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM ( unless otherwise noted on the monthly calendar). The programs involve social action, religion and purely social activities. There are sub-regional, regional and international conventions. A weeklong training course in leadership is offered during the summer. There are also sub-regional events such as dances during the year. Our USY chapter has received many prestigious honors. It has been named "Regional Chapter of the Year" twice and "International Chapter" twice. In addition, it has won the coveted Solomon Schechter Award twice for outstanding programming.
