Our Services

Beth Ahm Israel observes all the Jewish holidays always striving to enhance the beauty and meaning of its religious services and celebrations.

Services at Beth Ahm Israel are rooted in the Conservative tradition. We use the newest Conservative prayer book, Siddur Sim Shalom, along with the Hertz Chumash and the Etz Chaim Chumash on Shabbat morning. Men and women participate equally in all aspects of our religious life, and we encourage the participation of congregants of all ages.

We read the Torah according to the tradition followed in Israel during Rabbinic times, with one third of each portion being read each week. This triennial approach enables us to read the Torah each week and engage in a discussion concerning contemporary application of its concepts.

Our central pillars of observance are the Sabbath Services which are followed by an Oneg on Friday evening and a Kiddush on Saturday morning. Our High Holy Day services convey a very special warmth and spirituality.

Our Bar and Bat Mitzvah celebrations are observed during the Shabbat Morning service with the Bar and Bat Mitzvah celebrant participating in the service. Children are encouraged to participate in our ongoing adult services as well.

Minyan Services

Minyan services are held daily Monday through Friday mornings at 8:00 AM; Sunday mornings at 8:30 AM and Monday through Thursday evenings at 7:30 PM. Please call the synagogue office if you need to contact our Gabbi, Martin Berger, Marvin Kaleky, Gabbi Sheni or Lou Gorad, Gabbi Sheni.

We assist those congregants who are required to say Kaddish for the eleven-month period. On Mondays and Thursdays there is a Torah Service. Anyone wishing to do El Malei Rachamim (hold the Torah in honor of a loved one who has passed away) may join us for services. It is customary to make a nominal donation for these additional services.

Proceeds from the Minyan Scholarship Fund enable students to attend Religious School whose families cannot afford to send them. The identities of these families are held in strict confidence for their protection of privacy. Anyone wishing to contribute to this fund can do so by making his or her donation to the Minyan Scholarship Fund.
