As a conservative synagogue, we have an active multi-generational Sisterhood which is an affiliate of the Women's League for Conservative Judaism. We are a group of women sharing fun times and sad times. We inspire and support each other in times of need. Our Sisterhood helps our synagogue, our children, our families, and ourselves. We schlep, cook, plan, pray, donate, sell, and contact people. We hold fundraisers and donate most of the money to the needs of our synagogue or our youth, through a variety of ongoing projects listed below. Be sure to visit our calendar for complete information on our wonderful meetings and functions. Please join us! < Sisterhood Projects TORAH FUND Women's League for Conservative Judaism is the largest synagogue based women's organization in the world. Through our dedication and generosity to the Torah Fund Campaign, we support the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York, Zeigler School of Rabbinic Studies in Los Angeles, and Schecter Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem. Our contributions to Torah Fund assures that these institutions of Judaic learning produce the rabbis, cantors, scholars, teachers, and educated laity needed for the Conservative/Masorti Movement. It is with great honor that we announce that this year's Torah Fund Campaign.
Torah Fund, sponsored by Women's League, is closely linked to the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, and particularly concerned about the welfare of its students. Our Sisterhood is very committed to Torah Fund and has been consistently recognized for surpassing our Torah Fund Campaign Goal. Because of this, a plaque hangs in our honor. You've seen the beautiful Torah Fund pins that more than 10,000 women proudly wear. Each year a new pin is designed to match a different theme. The Torah Fund pin says the wearer supports the beneficiaries of Torah Fund, the Jewish Theological Seminary, Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies, and Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies. These funds are instrumental in the training of Conservative Rabbis, cantors, and educators in North America, Israel, and Europe. All contributions are greatly appreciated, but with a pledge of $180, you will proudly wear the Benefactor pin, one of the best pieces of jewelry a Jewish woman can wear. If you can't manage $180, support at whatever level is possible. Any amount that you can give will help continue the work that is being done by the Jewish Theological Seminary. Beautiful Torah Fund all-occasion cards may be purchased at $4 each at the Judaica Gift Shop. Thank you for your support. Terry Jonas and Sandi Rutner SHARE-A-SIMCHA A delightful means by which you can extend a special sentiment or greeting to someone in Sisterhood at every General Meeting. It is just $1 per line! Funds benefit our Kadima and USY applicants to Leadership Training Institute (LTI), through the Bea Schwartz Scholarship Fund.
TRIBUTE CARDS - BEA SCHWARTZ SCHOLARSHIP FUND Bea Schwartz was a dedicated and hard working member of Sisterhood. A Scholarship Fund was established in her memory to assist our Kadima and USY youth attending the Leadership Training Institute (LTI) in North Carolina each summer. Scholarships are granted based upon the youth's participation in the Kadima or USY Program activities, as well as religious services, during the prior year.
